Get answers to common questions about Initial Acupuncture.
Your first visit includes a detailed health intake, pulse and tongue assessment, then individualized needling targeting meridians. Expect mild sensations, deep relaxation, and 60 to 90 minutes total. We'll review aftercare and a follow-up plan to support recovery and balance.
Treatment frequency varies by condition. Acute issues may improve within a few sessions, while chronic conditions often require a series of six to twelve weekly treatments, then tapering. We’ll create a personalized plan during your initial visit to meet long-term goals.
Most people feel minimal discomfort; needles are thin and sensations are often described as tingling or warmth. Side effects are rare but can include mild bruising, temporary fatigue, or slight soreness. We use sterile, single-use needles and monitor your comfort throughout.
Yes. By regulating meridian flow and stimulating nervous system responses, acupuncture can reduce sympathetic arousal, improve sleep, and ease anxiety. Combined with lifestyle recommendations from our consultation, treatments support sustained emotional balance and resilience over time.
Eat a light meal beforehand and stay hydrated; low blood sugar can cause dizziness. Bring a list of medications and supplements. Do not stop prescribed medicines without consulting your doctor. Avoid alcohol or heavy exercise before treatment.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing to allow access to arms and legs. Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to complete intake forms, bring medical history and medication list, hydrate, and avoid caffeine right before your visit. Plan to rest afterward if needed.
